The students who come to Everest are offered the unique experience of being immersed in an American school. The following outings and activities contribute to the experience the students have of the American culture.

  • Host Family Program: Through the host family program, each student is received by an American family. The international students and their parents have the opportunity to meet their host family at the beginning of the year during orientation. The parents of the international students are able to communicate with the host family and be assured that their child will be well cared for throughout the year they are in the States.
  • Outings: The students have weekly outing opportunities – generally on Saturdays. Throughout the year the students visit some of Michigan’s greatest attractions and have a truly American experience. Outings include the following types of activities:
    • Sporting Events: Detroit Tigers Basketball, Detroit Red Wings Hockey, Detroit Pistons Basketball, Detroit Lions Football, and other professional and college sports events.
    • Cultural Activities: Detroit Science Center, Detroit Zoo, Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, Mackinac Island, Detroit Institute of Arts, Edsel Ford House, Frankenmuth
    • Entertainment: Disney on Ice, the Nutcracker, the Circus, Shows, Movies
    • American Experiences: Apple Picking, Hay Rides, Corn Maze, Pumpkin Picking, Christmas Tree Cutting, Fire & Ice Festival
    • Recreational Activities: Cedar Point, Michigan Adventure, Bowling, Skiing/Snowboarding, Mini Golf, Air Time, Rock Climbing, High Ropes, Laser Tag, Sand Dunes, Lake Michigan, Shopping, Paint Ball, Wave Pool

  • School and Family Activities: The students participate in many school sponsored activities such as the Family Bonfire, Fine Arts Night, the Talent Show, the Pope Benedict and JPII Sports Tournament, the Middle School Camp Out, the Christmas Program, Fish Fries, Sports Events, the Lock-In, etc.

These are planned activities in the evening or weekend often to which the American students are also invited.
